Don't Wait for the First Snow

Brian Head typically sees its first significant snowfall in November, but smart riders prepare their sleds well before that. Here's our comprehensive checklist to ensure your Ski-Doo or Lynx is ready when the powder flies.

Engine and Drivetrain

  • Check oil and filter: Fresh oil is essential after sitting through summer
  • Inspect drive belt: Look for cracks, fraying, or wear. Replace if questionable
  • Check clutches: Clean and inspect primary and secondary clutches
  • Coolant level: Ensure proper level and condition

Suspension and Skis

  • Grease all fittings: Don't forget the front suspension and rear skid
  • Check ski wear bars: Replace if worn past the indicator
  • Inspect shocks: Look for leaks or damage
  • Adjust track tension: Follow factory specifications

Safety Items

  • Avalanche gear: Check beacon batteries, practice with probe and shovel
  • Emergency kit: First aid, fire starter, survival blanket
  • Tether cord: Ensure it's in good condition
